Variation 5

from Lockleaze Variations by Moscow Rules

/

about

Strings and dulcimer provide a chordal bed, while the left hand of a piano softly taps out the theme and cars go by, rumbling along the concrete road. A counter melody starts on the right hand, getting progressively more intricate, bouncing off the rhythm of the theme. We hear some of Lockleaze's youth walk past towards the end, before the music tails off and the recording is stopped, underlining the whole process.
